Operational Changes Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic for the 2020 Season

I hope this notice finds you and your family well during these turbulent times. I'm sure most of us have had to change our daily routines to stay safe during this public health emergency. RRSTA is permitted to open for business, but we must comply with State of Maine executive orders to maximize the health and safety of range users and staff. Therefore, we will institute the following operational changes.

  1. Only 10 people will be on the range at any one time. Late arrivals will be asked to stay in their vehicles until space opens up.
  2. All participants will be asked to wear masks or other cloth facial coverings except when on shooting station. Shooters must bring their own masks.
  3. To maintain 6 foot physical distancing, only trap shooting and 5-stand shooting will be open at this time.
  4. We will ask shooters to pick-up their shells when changing stations.
  5. We will not be renting shotguns or selling ammunition.
  6. We will not be conducting our July 4th or club championship tournaments.
  7. We will not be renting a porta-potty for the range this season
  8. Loading of throwers will be done by staff.
  9. We encourage participants to bring their own lawn chairs for use when not shooting.
  10. The remote throwing devices will only be handled by staff or disinfected prior to use by others.

I hope these operational changes will make you feel safe and comfortable coming to the range and enjoying the sport we all love. Please share any suggestions to improve this plan. I hope we can devise a plan to open the range for skeet shooting. Feel free to call 717-623-2328 or email david.kretzing@gmail.com with questions or suggestions.

Hope to see you this season,
Dave Kretzing
President. RRSTA

Effective from the 2017 season onward, all RRSTA fields will require non-toxic ammunition. This change will satisfy the Environmental Management Plan requirement for the federal grant funding we received to do the major infrastructure construction and equipment acquisition over the last two years. Compliant ammunition will be available for sale at the range. We ask for your cooperation and support.
